Day 17, 52 miles today, 797 total miles

Staying in Whitewater tonight after stopping in the middle of Bowers Lake Road to the NE of Milton.

Today was a great day. It never got too hot and Timo Yanacheck and Pat Heyn showed up later in the day to run the last 4-5 hours with me. Robert Wehner did a super job getting me to eat and drink over 4000 calories again.

Day 16, successful but it sure was hot

We had another successful day, covering about 50 miles for a total of about 745 miles. We are staying in New Glarus tonight and made it to River Road south of Monticello after 11 hours of running and walking today.

My day with Jason

(from Saturday, April 28, 2007)

I was waiting for Jason at 6:30 a.m. when he arrived with Tom Bunk at his starting point for the day. This was at the intersection of Hwys 113 and DL, just east of the Devils Lake segment. Tom and I were checking on the supplies in the back of the van when Jason started down the trail. My first lesson learned: Jason does not wait for anyone.

The weather was forecast as sunny and warm. Golden moving sun rays highlighted the glistening dew and the patchy fog over wetlands.

Changing of the Guard - Day 15

Ann, Timo, Dave, Brenda, and Kevin helped pace Jason today and they will be posting their updates later. After 15 consecutive days of running, Jason achieved the days goal of reaching Cross Plains!

Tomorrow (Sunday) Robert Wehner will be taking over crewing duties from Tom early afternoon and will remain with Jason for the duration of the journey.

The hills of Devil's Lake - Day 14

Jason completed a little over 44 miles today after finding a shorter road route between Portage and Parfrey's Glen. Since there are no official road connectors between Ice Age Trail segments, the shortest possible route is desirable. Jason also said his hamstring is still a bit tight and the ankle swelling is back. Hopefully Dr. Tom will take care of that.

Matt Frank ran the final 15 miles of todays trek in Devil's Lake with Jason. Here is Matt's account....
