Day 22, Unbelieveably only 30 miles left!!

We ended in Rio Creek at about 1049 miles.We are staying in Algoma. We will plan to start at 6:30am tomorrow, but if we wake up early and are ready to go, then we will start early. I can’t imagine how we ever made it through the past 3 weeks, but we did. It has been fun listening to all the stories from people following my adventure. I am glad to be able to give you a successful tale. You are all the best. Please get out when you can to enjoy the trails that I have been enjoying for the past 22 days. (Photo's inside)

Day 21 - Light at the end of the trail

Jason called in tonight since he did not have a good Internet connection where he was staying in Two Rivers, so we have an audio report for you. It appears that there is new trail along lake Michigan, which is why the green line branches toward Manitowoc on the map (I suspect the IAT map is out-of-date).

Day 20, it doesn't get much better

What a great day! 943 miles done, 136 miles to go. ADDENDUM: Photos added.

Timo writes: With another 49 miles behind him, today Jason had yet another good day on the Ice Age Trail.

The temp was 45 degrees when Jason started out from a point west of Slinger, WI. Robert saw him off at 6:29 a.m. Some roads to cover today, but mostly some of the best trails. The skies were sunny all day, and there was a pleasant cool wind from the east (the direction of nearby Lake Michigan). The high temperature was 61.

Day 19, another 50 miles down, YEAH!

I had a tough last 3 hours, but with another 50 miles down, there are only 185 miles to go! We ended at Hwy 60 outside of Hartford after going through Pike Lake SP.Tomorrow we start by going through Slinger and West Bend before heading into the Northern Kettle.We should end by Greenbush.We have a couple photos from Stuart to share also...

Midday update

Jason called in an update over lunch. Lorraine Bunk and Tom Held ran with Jason earlier today. Tom is putting together a story for publication in the next couple of days - watch Tom's Blog and JS-Online.Jason was in good spirits and heading towards the Hartland Marsh preserve and the Holy Hill segmentafter completing the Lapham section. He expects to finish near Pikes lake today.

He is now North of the Southern Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest (map) and should be in the Northern Unit (map)on Thursday.

Day 18, great day with lots of people

We finished 48 miles today for a total of 845 miles and ended at the trail head on Cty D just off of Cty C north of the Scuppernong trails. Just 5 days to go, oh man!

I am very tired, but still looking forward to Wednesday as it will bring a nice mixture of roads and trails. By starting off with mainly roads for the first 15 miles and ending with 33 miles of trails, the day was quite challenging.

Scott and Anne

Scott and Anne started a thru hike from Potawatomi State Park and are going in the opposite direction as Jason, so they should hook up in a few days, unless Jason takes a shorter road connector and misses them.

They have their two dogs with them and are covering about 12 miles per day. You can visit their Journal at trailjournals.com They also mention Jason's Through Run.

Playing hooky

On the afternoon of April 30 (Monday), Pat Heyn and I played hooky from work and went to Janesville to see how Jason was doing. This was Day 17 for him. He had another very productive day - over 50 miles again, I think - most of the time running into a stiff easterly head wind. (Photo's inside!)
