I had a tough last 3 hours, but with another 50 miles down, there are only 185 miles to go! We ended at
Tomorrow we start by going through Slinger and West Bend before heading into the
is as close as Jason will get to Forest Gump!
A great weather day and fun trails. I saw a lot of people on the trail today starting with 5 people on the first trail segment waiting to wish me luck. I got their picture, but forgot to ask and remember their names. Soon after Lorraine Bunk joined me to run through Lapham Peak. Tom Bunk also followed us along since he apparently did not get enough crewing in the last two weeks.
A surprise visit from a Blog watcher (Stuart Oliver) occurred on the Glacial Drumlin bike trail and he ran with us for a little over a mile before he had to get to work.
Also Tom Held from the
Journal Sentinalran with us for several miles in Lapham also. It was good to meet him after all his great support of the run. Check out their website and paper on Thursday for a more detailed update.
Then it was onto roads and trails that I had run last September up to Holy Hill. Near here I had my right hamstring tighten up again, but we were at about 40 miles by this time so it was just a matter of pushing through. For the better part of the day the miles just flew by with no problems.
Another dose of vitamin-I helped later in the day so I could finish with some ease. Tonight just need to take care of the blisters, stretch and sleep. Sounds like there will be a few people out running tomorrow with us - I can’t wait.
Had more reporters call tonight (daily news, channel 12 and west bend paper). It is great that everyone is so interested in the run. I hope the coverage raises awareness of the trail, an interest in hiking the IAT, and motivates people to help with donations. Still looking good to finish Sunday afternoon!!!!!
