OK, not so dark, but windy and rainy in any case... With the continued help of Tom Bunk (crewing) and the pacing help from Tim Goihl and Peter Wadsack we had a great day. We did 53.9 miles and ended at the John Muir trail north of Portage. We are just shy of 600 miles total and will plan to get through Devil’s Lake SP tomorrow. If it goes well we should finish at Hwy 113 south of the park...
Thanks to Marty and AJ who came out to see us for a while near the Mecan segment.
In was rainy and windy all day. The Mecan River section was very scenic and it helped that the rain was not with me at that point yet. Tom hurt is leg running back to see me early in the day so now we are both doing triage at night. The cold and rain got old, but you can’t do much about the weather. Tomorrow may start off rainy, but should be a high of 60 eventually.
Early on I saw several turkey hunters, but there was very little wildlife in the woods due to the rain I think. Looking forward to being in my back yard the next couple of days. These will be the first trails I am familiar with. Gotta make this short for now. Getting tired if you believe that. Will look forward to seeing these trails in the future when I am fresh.
