At 536.2 miles there is 543.8 miles to go. Pretty much half way now.
If I can average 50 miles per day then I will still finish on Sunday May 6th. There will be some days I may not be able to do that if there is a lot of trail, but time will tell. Today I hit a very low point when my sugar levels got low near the end of the day...
I was getting loopy and thinking how hard the rest of this run will be if I am feeling this way at the half way point. Then Tom gave me a Gel and the last 6 miles flew by “easily”. The course today had a mix of trail and road, but again the road was some of the hardest part. Starting at Iola Ski Area was neat with the ski jump in the background. Now that is a crazy sport...
On the Trail
Joel from Silent Sports ran with me for about 6 miles and that made for a nice section of trail. He also pointed out some hard to find trailheads. So thanks Joel, it’s never good to have to do extra on such long day. The long road section was reminiscent of a bike ride last fall which covered some of the same roads. At Heffron I did not take the time to stop in the bar for lunch however. The last trail section was very nice, I just wish I could have enjoyed it a little more, but I was focused on finishing and not tripping on any sticks or rocks.

The feet are still pretty good, but am losing the 2nd toenail on the right foot. We shall see how it looks in the morning. Blisters and calluses are still commonplace, but manageable. The calves and hamstring are very tight, but also managing.
Crew master of one, Tom Bunk, lends a hand
Looking forward to seeing Tim Goihl and Peter Wadsack for the 2nd half of the day tomorrow and then maybe Matt Frank on Friday.
Again, thanks to Joel of
Silent Sports Magazinefor sending in the photos!
