The Hiker Icon on the Google map shows End and Start point for each day. I placed little balloons when I could find the location based on the description in the summary and detail pages. Try clicking on the 'Satellite' button in the upper right of the Google map - sometimes you can get a really great hi-resolution image of the terrain.
I'm pretty sure that Jason does not know exactly where he will stop at the end of each day. There is a daily plan, but weather, trail conditions, and other factors (i.e. tendinitis) may cause them to change the plan slightly. When I hear from them, I will try to and get the city they are staying at and their goal for the day.
Contacting Jason's Crew
I will repeat the contact information here that was posted a few days ago. If you are only looking for progress updates, please just watch this blog, as Jason and Tom/Robert are quite busy at the end of each day preparing for the next day and sleeping! Maybe limit any calls to those where you want to run with Jason, or if you want to meet them somewhere on the trail. Also, don't be intimidated by the term 'run' if you are thinking of joining Jason. The road pace is about 10 minutes per mile and the trail pace 14 minutes per mile. A lot of it is like a fast hike to just keep moving...
Robert Wehner will be crewing Jason Sunday afternoon (4/29) and through the week to the end of the trail. A huge thank you to Tom Bunk who has been with Jason most of these first two weeks.
Robert Wehner's cell: 262-370-7270.
Tom Bunk's cell: 262-470-5230.
You can email photo's to timgoihl@yahoo.com and call me at 608.279.9580 if you need help locating Jason.
Before I get into the tracking details, I want to remind new blog readers that
Jason's purpose is to raise awareness about the Ice Age Trail and to help
raise fundsfor the trail via the Ice Age Park and Trail Foundation. So please visit the external links and explore the Ice Age site, the local chapter sites, and consider a
donation for this monumental effort.
Let me point you to the main
Ice Age Trail 1000 websiteand
information on Jason's Thru Runwhere I found:
This
Summary table that shows Jason's mileage goal for each day along with starting and ending location (this is of course before the run started). There is also a
more detailed table showing more road names, etc.
Simply watch the blog for current mileage and find the 'day' from completed mileage column.
You can use the PDF county navigation maps on the
Ice Age Trail site(the Series C maps) that show the completed Ice Age Trail segment in each County.
Here is a clickable overview
map of the Ice Age Trail in Wisconsin from the
Ice Age Park & Trail Foundation website that shows the counties they will pass through. Clicking on the counties on the map links to the local Ice Age Chapters.
